In India emotional love can ruin a person’s life or save it. We Indians are rooted and grounded, sensitive and emotional as human beings. We are also very close to and protective about our loved ones, from my observation more so than in the West. The world is moving so fast and the descriptions of emotions are changing along with it. The question is have we been changed by the dominant western society & thought process, or are we still maintaining our emotional sensibilities as Indians? Are we trying to adapt to stay connected with the rest of the world? Do we really need to? Western culture excites us and leads us to experiment with being more open about feelings, or so we imagine. The other possibility is that we can actually go back to our roots, back to just letting our natural, raw emotions flow. What draws us together and what pulls us apart?
