Concept Note:
This series was born from a quick, unplanned holiday shoot in Pondicherry. I (Rishi) joined Abhishek(Stylist) for a few days, and as always, we ended up creating together. There’s a natural balance between us, We have the freedom to explore our ideas, while he decides how to conceptualise and style. We also value each other’s input and shape the process collaboratively. For this shoot, he brought along a collection of unique caps and felt inspired to center the concept around them. Taking notes & inspiration from the local culture, people, and atmosphere. Headgear or caps have been worn by men and women across all religions for centuries. They hold deep emotional value, symbolising pride, purity, and respect in cultures worldwide. Our idea was to showcase some of the unique caps Abhishek has collected, chosen for their distinct shapes, sizes, or craftsmanship, while blurring the lines of cultural or religious identification typically associated with them. Me and Abhishek actively approached tourists and locals, offering them the chance to wear these caps—something many had never experienced before—and reflect on how it made them feel. Did it make them feel special? Did it add a sense of pride or enhance their personality?
